BECKY FORREST WINS VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AND THE CLUB COME'S RUNNERS UP IN THE COMMUNITY SPORTS AWARD!

The Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards was on the 4th November and was attended by Richard Williams Chairman of the Club and Rebecca Forrest's parents on behalf of their daughter. The night was a celebration of all the sporting achievments across Warwickshire with lots of athletes who have competed in the Commonweath Games in Delhi to Olympians and future stars of London 2012.

We were nominated for Community Sports Award and out of 25 applications we were a very commendable runner up. This for the club after five years of development, commitment and determination was great recognition and promoted volleyball across the county.

Becky Forrest was in the Volunteer of the Year category and after achieving the NAtional award Becky was also awarded the regional accolade! This was a great achievement for the club but more importantly for a player who was fully commited to the development of the club and volleyball across Nuneaton and the West Midlands. I was very proud to accept the award on behalf of Becky and wish her every success as she is starting to play for Team Southampton in the NAtional League and BUSA competitions.

Nuneaton Volleyball Club began life in the late eighties as an adult education class at Nuneaton Tec, over the following years the Nuneaton Chasers Volleyball Team was formed and it was decided that we would become a stand alone club. Nuneaton continued to play at the Tec for several years, after this, before moving to the new sports hall at George Eliot Community School where the club currently reside, coinciding with a name change to Nuneaton Volleyball Club.
